超希少、日本で数名しかいない「島原太夫」を次世代に繋ぐプロジェクト
「島原太夫」は花魁でも舞妓さんでもない最高位の芸妓です。 宮中で舞や琴、茶道などを披露する芸に秀でた傾城(けいせい)に与えられた称号「太夫」。 新選組もお座敷に通っていた京都の島原には現在、太夫さんはたった数名しかおりません。 太夫さんが行っている年間行事も舞妓さんに切り替わっているところもあります。 舞妓さんたちの五花街と違い島原には現在、歌舞練場も組合もありません。 子供たちも日本文化を継承していけるように応援していただけると嬉しいです。

The title ‘tayu’ was given to leaners who excelled in the arts of performing dances, koto (Japanese harp) and tea ceremonies at court.
Unlike maiko (maiko), who emerged from the culture of the townspeople, or oiran (courtesans), who were prostitutes, shimabara tayu were geiko, the highest rank in the art of performing.
There are currently only four tayu in Shimabara, Kyoto, where court nobles and feudal lords also attended the ozashiki.
